In a previous blog entry, we talked about the power of visual communication. Images are everywhere, but normally they didn’t end up in front of your eyeballs by accident. At least they shouldn’t. Picking the right imagery strengthens the message and the values of the brand you are communicating. Picking the wrong one will water down your communication or even work against it. Nothing new here.
Keeping track of not only where, but also how images have been used throughout multiple and ever evolving channels poses a constant challenge to a Photo Editor. This is almost impossible, or at least very hard to do without the proper tool (hint: it’s not Excel).
In QBank DAM we have a number of mechanisms and features that can vastly improve your processes:
- By applying an approval workflow, we make sure nothing slips into the library if it doesn’t meet some predefined criteria, such as proper tags, metadata, and format
- With the CMS Connector for Episerver, we make it very easy for a Web Editor to pick and repurpose an image for web use, but only from approved material for that channel
- We push out notifications when a newer version of an asset is available
- We feed usage information back to QBank, which gives a Photo Editor an overview of exactly when, where and how images are used (down to the exact crop variations)
